Product Description Polar. RS100 Heart Rate Monitor's wrist unit displays and records your heart rate and exercise data during exercise. Enter your personal settings into the wrist unit and analyze exercise information after your workouts. The Polar Coded Transmitter sends your heart rate signal to the wrist unit. The electrode areas on the back of the transmitter detect your heart rate.

Great value and works well so far March 15, 2010 Steve Gore I bought this mainly because the York chest strap I bought wouldn't work properly with the York C302 excercise bike so I needed both strap and watch to be sure I could monitor my heart rate properly. As it happens, the Polar transmitter also works fine with the C302 so the watch is actually a bit overkill for me, but a bonus nonetheless. If you just want the strap and transmitter then you can save around £20 Polar Wearlink Plus Transmitter And Strap but I would get both as you can use the watch for real cycling or jogging etc.
The strap is very comfortable (unlike the York one) and seems to give a reliable steady signal (again, unlike the York). The actual transmitter detaches from the strap so you can give the strap a good rinse after use and the weave of the strap is easy to dampen and retains moisture, so the strap works well even if you haven't got a sweat on!
The watch isn't the most advanced (e.g. only the last session recorded) but I found it straightforward to use and liked the "range" feature which beeps when you stray away from your target heart rate - I think a previous poster complained about not being able to turn this off - simply make the range very wide so that you are always within the limits and the watch stays silent!.
Overall, excellent value and so far 100% reliable - 5 stars!
Not bad March 11, 2010 Michael T. Senis (Athens, Greece) Well, when I was firstly received the product it worked fine but after 1 month the battery was exhausted. After two consecutive battery replacements it proved that the watch was defective and it was immediately replaced by amazon.com. The second watch was working perfectly and it's functionality was superb.
solid HRM February 22, 2010 D. Mclaughlin (UK) Bought this as a replacement for another make that proved very unreliable. Went for Polar because of pedigree and not disappointed. Have now trained with a HRM for ~3years and this Polar unit is functioning very well. Good stability of signal, coded to avoid cross talk; large display with simple to use buttons and easy set up. As comfortable a chest strap as I have come across and batteries all seam to be replacable. The RS100 does lack some of the more advanced features of higher models so if you want more features you have to pay more but the underlying technology is still as good as there is out there. Overall can't fault it for the money - very solid unit for the average user & functionality.
Great Heart Rate Monitor February 17, 2010 P. J. cliff (GB) I have a Garmin 305 which I use for running and decided to buy this as well I think the chest belt is better belt and the watch is well priced and is ideal if you want basic heart rate info when your running overall a great product.
Polar RS100 February 15, 2010 Mr. P. Smith (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have used Polar Heart Rate monitors exclusively for the past 20 years. I have noticed a general decline in their build quality and comfort. With the RS100 I reverted back to a model with a big red master button for ease of use but beyond this button the HRM is over complicated and difficult to use. Polar seem to want to display too much information at once and this makes it difficult to read information on the receiver. I was looking for a simple HRM for fitness purposes but the strap feels flimsy and not built to last and I have had problems with some of the settings. For instance when recording my heart rate I cannot get rid of the beeping noise. This noise is constant whether the sound is ON or OFF.
On the positive side if you want lots of information and your eyesight is good then it may work fo you, they are also compatible with most gym machines and when I have had to email Polar for advice their response has been first class
